3 D’s of Goal Setting: Stop Feeling Stuck OR Relying On Luck!

Life is chaotic in nature, no one is immune from this!

Instead of resisting the chaos, or even worse waiting for it to stop — do something with it!

How?

Following the 3 D’s of Goal Setting:

  1. Decision
  2. Discipline
  3. Determination
Decisions: Take action on them!

Decision

All action we take in life comes from a choice we have decided to make.

If you want to achieve a goal you need to make a decision that you are going to take the action to ensure you achieve that goal.

If you don’t come to this decision you will be lost in limbo with one foot in desire and one foot in compliancy. Avoid this as much as you can — this will get you no where and you can kiss your goals goodbye.

Discipline: Commit to yourself!

Discipline

Once you have made the decision to take action — Stick to that decision.

If you want to lose 25 lbs. in 5 months then make sure you stick to the decision that you are going to exercise daily, avoid unhealthy foods, and avoid long periods of sitting/no activity — DAILY.

In order to do anything daily you have to turn it into a habit, requiring discipline to stick with it (even when you don’t want to).

Self discipline is known to make habit forming much easier because you learn ways to:

  • Help keep you focused on why you are forming this habit
  • Remind you of the benefits you will get from it
  • Prove to yourself that you can do it

Discipline is making a commitment to yourself that you don’t break!

Determination: Remember why you need to do this!

Determination

Determination is your best friend when facing hardships and failures!

Determination reminds you that failure doesn’t mean you quit.

Determination pushes you forward, even when you’re terrified inside.

Determination makes you put your goals and time ahead of your fear.

When you work hard for months on losing that 25 lbs. and you are 1 month away and see you gained back 5…

Determination makes you go even harder that last month so you surpass your goal and take it one step further!

Failures, hardships, and obstacles are a part of life we all face — Setting goals (and achieving them) means you keep adapting your actions so that you achieve what you set out to accomplish!

Takeaway Challenge

I challenge you to take a goal and use the 3 D’s of Goal Setting to help you achieve it!

However you do it doesn’t matter, just do it! Challenge yourself to practicing the 3 D’s for each goal you have — see what difference in makes in your life!

Creating Intentional Goals Challengekelspiration.gumroad.com

Anyone can create goals, the hard part is sticking to them!

The key to goal making is to make them clear, trackable, time sensitive, and related to your purpose/mission.

Goals are what you make them and if you make goals that don’t really matter to you, doesn’t relate to anything you are working hard to succeed, or just feels unnatural or forced — they won’t get you anywhere and you will not stick to them!
