Imagine living life with a cheerleader beside you!

Every accomplishment, every success, every new lesson you learned there was your cheerleader giving you the props you deserve!

We can all think of a time when having a cheerleader rooting for us would have been nice.

But what if you could be that cheerleader for yourself?

Self cheer is just that!

It’s the good things you shout out about yourself because you are truly proud of yourself in that moment because you believe the good that exists within you!

It’s like being your own personal cheerleader!

For the last issue of the new year I am going to share 3 journal prompts that can inspire your own self cheer so you can take that with you into the new year!

1. What good do I do for others?

How do you make their life better?

What do you provide to others that help them overcome hard times?

What good deeds have you done?

How have you shown kindness to others?

Think of all the great things you do for the people around you, whether they know you or not.

This prompt helps me remember the value I provide to the world around me. If I can help raise up others, I can do it for myself!

Then I think…

“I am proud of myself for helping all these people.”

I loved knowing I was a part of it as I am watching them smile or watching them level up in some way.

It’s a great moment to cheer yourself on for the good you already do.

2. What has changed about my life in the past 5–10 years?

What challenges have you overcome?

What accomplishments have you racked up?

What memories do you cherish?

What are things about you and your life now that is different than 5–10 years ago?

When you take the time to answer these questions you are setting yourself up for the only comparison that matters — your own!

Your past is your past and it will always be part of your story.

BUT…

If you embrace the things you learned, the changes that you made because of it, and everything else about the experience, you can recognize the power you have to overcome it and create a better life with what you learned.

After writing it all out, look back at it by reading it again and again.

Be proud of what you went through, it just made you that much stronger and more determined than ever to achieve the life changes you desire!

3. What more am I still capable of?

This prompt is one of my personal favorites because it’s so open ended that you are free to dig deep and unlock your hidden desires!

Are you capable of traveling?

Are you capable of learning a new skill?

Are you capable of finding a new love or friend?

Are you capable of getting a new job or creating your own business?

It also brings about something powerful, the limitations you set on yourself.

I want you to look at what you write the first time and challenge yourself to dig deeper to keep building to your answer.

The only wrong answer is leaving something out because of your perceived limitations.

There is so much more ahead of you, and this question can be a really powerful reminder of that; if you open up and dig deep when you answer it.

Don’t rob yourself of that experience. Trust me! I did for too long!

The prompts aren’t supposed to feel like homework or be dreadful.

They may be a challenge at first but the more you answer it the more you realize all that you have been through and that you have left to discover!

When one door closes, another opens.

A new year can work the same way!

Happy Christmas! Happy New Year! Happy Journaling!
