Self-care is mentioned all over the internet, its gone global!

Self-care is also difficult to maintain in many life circumstances.

The perception of self-care usually involves glamorous products and routines that glam up your life.

Don’t get me wrong, those can be great too — but that is not all self-care is.

In fact, those that benefit the most from their self-care routine, no matter what it looks like, all have one thing in common.

They commit to it like it’s their best friend, partner in crime, ride or die — you name it! They have true passion and commitment to it, whatever it is.

In other words, they dedicate themselves to it.

Committing to you

Maintaining a self-care routine requires the same from you as building any other habit.

It requires your dedication and commitment to do it over and over again.

This is why I recommend building a self-care routine to anyone looking to build better habits and/or a better life.

If you think about what self-care means it makes sense to start here.

Self-care is an activity one does to recharge themself, make them happy, or treats themself in some capacity.

YOU are supposed to be the one that benefits from it.

Who wouldn’t commit to doing something that makes them feel good on a regular basis?

I mean you’re learning how to build new habits AND you get to do something that recharges you too!?

Talk about a WIN — WIN!

I spent most of my life not committing to myself in anyway, once I started I laughed at the realization that I could have been doing this ALL ALONG!

Commitment is hardest when you start

Why didn’t I start for so long? Because it is HARD to start!

Let’s say you want to build a daily self-care routine, what should you include?

There are thousands of different activities that fall under the self-care umbrella. How do you decide?

I started by asking myself: “What is something I can easily do everyday for no more than 10 minutes that will make me smile?”

My answer to this was journaling. Which ended up working for me and has transformed into my passion!

Below is a list of different ideas to help you get started!

Pick one (or use this list as inspiration) and commit to what you picked for at least a week.

If you don’t like it try, find it had to maintain, or don’t feel good when you are maintaining it — pick another until you find one that sticks.

Once you have one locked down, build from there!

This is the part that tripped me up for YEARS once I discovered self-care.

I never thought to build to that habit so that it would turn into a routine until I met the President of the company who gave me my first “office job”.

She is the QUEEN of self-care, and I don’t even think she knows it!

She lives her life for her while also growing herself and her business as she indulges in her own self-care practices.

She is a social butterfly and enjoys a good conversation. Therefore during her free time she goes out with friends to recharge her battery. She ends almost every night with a new client for her business AND a good story!

She loves it! It gives her a place to indulge in her love of socializing AND get’s her new clients and therefore more money!

It comes natural to her because she already knows how to commit to her self care when she needs to and commit to her business when she needs to. So she commits to both anytime she sees an opportunity to do so.

She built on the habits she already has committed to so that she can be more efficient with her time! Talk about a life hack!

It was fascinating to watch her manage it all — it really inspired me to figure out how I can create the same for myself.

The result of this inspiration includes this little number that you are reading.

My newsletter, blog, website, and soon to be online store was all built around self-care activities I ENJOY! It motivates and excites me to explore, discuss, and share how we can better live our lives every day!

I am passionate about understanding why we stress, worry, feel anxious and depressed. Why we crave social connection, success, and happiness.

But most of all I am addicted to figure out how we can HACK our life experience for our own benefit!

So my self-care routine has evolved into a weekly commitment I make to myself to: Journal, read, and network EVERY DAY.

Let me just say, it has made my life more enjoyable, fulfilling, and interesting.

I just have to say 10/10 recommend!

Key Point

Commitment is the key to starting your self-care practices and building them into self-care routines.

Commitment is the key to recognizing your worth, understanding your drive, and taking action to achieve it.

Commitment is the key to unlock your wildest dreams, if you commit to the right things.

If you feel like you aren’t committed to the right things…

Start by committing to some self-care, then build from there!

It doesn’t have to be difficult forever! You got this!
